What is Qigong?
Qigong is a holistic energetic health and wellness practice that integrates postures, breathing techniques, flowing movements and meditation. Qigong is part of the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), along with acupuncture, massage, and herbal medicine. Qi means “vital energy” and gong means “the skill of working with”; so, Qigong is the practice of cultivating the life-force energy.
Qi is the vital force that connects and fills all things. It is the base material that connects everything. It overlaps the border between the material and the immaterial. Every single thing and non-thing are permeated and governed by Qi. The universe itself is a wide web of Qi.
Qi is inherent in the living human body, and the human body is sustained by Qi. It flows and manifests within the body through vibrations. It flows in our body like rivers and streams forming an energetic network. The conditions of our immediate environment, our lifestyle, stress, ignoring our bodily signals, and our emotions are all factors that can induce a disruption in the circulation of Qi. When imbalances or blockages occur, discomforts and other illnesses appear.
At Mindful Essence, we believe that each individual has the responsibility (“the ability to respond”) to self-care, meaning to restore the circulation of Qi within the body. Healing occurs through balancing Qi which will allow the body to build strength and regulate all its functions including the immune system.
The healing power of Qigong may be experienced as a self-practice or as an energetic treatment given by a certified practitioner. Self-practice Qigong is simple and accessible. There are no complex sequences to remember and it requires no particular skill level or experience. When imbalances and blockages are deep and have been for a long time we need a bigger energy shift to achieve healing. Under these circumstances, the certified practitioner will use proven Medical Qigong technics and protocols to bring back balance in the body, the mind, and the soul.
