The Work That Reconnects

Our world is sick.  Each of us experiences it daily in a variety of circumstances.  To witness the devastating impacts of human activities on the planet and on the lives of all living beings is often times overwhelming.  The Work That Reconnects (WTR) is a methodology of group work designed to help us to honor our pain for the world and transform our despair and our apathy into concrete actions.

Joanna Macy, a scholar of Buddhism, systems thinking and deep ecology is the creator and the root teacher of the Work That Reconnects.  Furthermore, she is a respected voice in movements for peace, justice and ecology. The WTR proposes interactive exercises to help us discover and feel our innate connection with the Earth and with each other, metabolize our emotions, expand our imagination to bring wider perspectives on our life and foster our desire and our ability to take part in the healing of our world.  It is a powerful tool to initiate personal and social changes.

Whatever the experience of our life now, we can all find our unique way to participate in the creation of a life-sustaining society and be one small part of The Great Turning.

«If the world is to be healed through human efforts, I am convinced it will be by ordinary people, people whose love for this life is even greater than their fear. People who can open to the web of life that called us into being.»

~ Joanna Macy
