We are all looking for a state of bliss, Happiness (with a capital H). It is a universal truth.
Not the sugary and fake happiness we feel when we buy a new high-tech gadget or a brand-new car, or when we go on vacation to a foreign country that gives us real but temporary pleasure. Although this is what the social norm and the cultural current try to make us believe, our balance and happiness do not depend on our consumption of external "goods" whether tangible or intangible such as epic adventures or unusual experiences, well-defined opinions, or the whole range of digital entertainment, to name a few.
No. This state of bliss and Happiness to which I refer is this intrinsic desire to live a vibrant life of aliveness, a life full of vitality. For most of us, it is difficult to identify or clearly name the nature of this aspiration. It is rather a subtle internal sensation generally manifesting itself by a floating discomfort. A feeling of lack, incompleteness or dissatisfaction.
In fact, what we all yearn for is rooted in our inner life, deeply anchored in our Heart. As humans, we seek meaningful experiences that foster connection to ourselves, others, and the natural world.
Our universal needs and desires are concentrated in a few major areas of life:
• To cultivate confidence in our bodies and experience radiant well-being and a sense of vitality.
• To be seen, heard, recognized, and celebrated for who we truly are.
• To create secure and meaningful relationships where we can love and be loved fully
• To participate and contribute to the world through a thriving livelihood aligned with our values
• To unleash and express our creativity and gifts
• To discover our higher purpose and deepen our spiritual connection
However, without clear teachings and support in this regard during our development or following traumatic events, little by little we slip in our lives and disconnect from our authentic needs and desires.
Do you feel the urgency of your Heart in one or more of these areas of your life? The urge to expand with more presence, the urge to experience meaningful and intimate connections, to gather in community, the urge to explore, express and receive love in as many forms as there are different living beings, the urge to feel at ease, peaceful, tranquil and joyful? I firmly believe that it is our responsibility to do everything in our power to restore these universal needs and desires in our life. It takes work on our part but they are skills that can be learned or relearned, tried and practiced.
What are the practices that nurture your Heart spaciousness and allow you to reconnect with your buried desires and Unleash our potential?
